How to sell your services as a personal brand photographer?
If I’m not out there in the world taking photos of every aspect of life and sharing them with my audience, how can they believe that this is a brand/business worth investing in?
There are many ways to be an advocate for your own business – blogging has always been one way but now it’s even more important because people want to know who they’re working with before signing on the dotted line! It feels like decades ago when if someone asked me “How do you get clients?” My response would have been “Word-of-mouth.” Nowadays though, Word-of-Mouth goes hand in hand with social media. Social Media allows us as photographers to connect with our audience quickly and in huge numbers.

You don’t necessarily have to be the worlds best photographer – not all marketing budgets can afford a high end brand photographer. However if photography is one of your strengths or something that you’re passionate about (and I hope after reading my blog post on building trust with potential clients by using professional headshots it’s clear how important this is!), then definitely consider investing in some training so as to become even more marketable. Do I need to invest a lot of money to become a personal brand photographer?
The short answer is no. The long answer would be “It all depends on what you want to create”. I personally invested training, lighting kits, camera equipment and a decent computer and editing software so that my clients can get the best experience possible for their brand photography session but this doesn’t have to be your case! Investing money into marketing yourself as a photographer will give you more exposure over time and help build up your clientele but it’s not necessary right away when starting out. The best investment you can make in your business when starting out as  personal brand photographer is training. By learning all the things to do right, as well as the things to avoid doing, you can save yourself a huge amount of time and money, by not making the mistakes that most people make when setting out to become a brand photographer.
Do i need an assistant as a brand photographer?
No one said entrepreneurship was easy đŸ˜‰ Being self-employed means being responsible for every facet of the business including everything from administrative tasks to photographing sessions, new client acquisition and networking events – just like any other entrepreneur should do! I personally don’t need an assistant on photoshoots but I do have help in other areas of my business to allow me to spend some of my time to work on my business not in my business all the time.
Can anyone become a personal brand photographer?
Anyone can become a personal brand photographer but if you’re not sure about the business aspect of photography, it’s best to invest in training, marketing and networking with other photographers so that your clients will know they’ll get top-notch service.
Does brand photography help influence peoples buying decisions?
I get this question a lot, and the answer is YES. People that are looking for someone to hire will often look through portfolios online before contacting any potential candidates in person or via email.
A brand photography portfolio can be used as an opportunity to make people feel like they know you better than anyone else competing for their business!
Personal Brand Photography has also been shown to help influence buying decisions because it allows clients to see who they’re working with from the beginning of the partnership – so they don’t have anything negative creep up later on down the line when there’s trust issues already happening between them and their photographer . As opposed to just having one client meeting where we get acquainted over lunch, I’m able-to really show my personality online.
